Back in 2011 before the New Year, I was claiming to the universe that 2012 would be my year and the start of everything beautiful, and the heavens have not failed my heart, except of course for that one guy (I'm just joking - he was and that relationship was definitely a blessing in disguise.)
I am one of those people who craves idealistic living - a romantic of some sort. I'm always looking for something meaningful that I can be a part of. That of course came through She Matters. A cervical cancer foundation, She Matters was founded by Ms. Emee Aquino who lost her older sister to the disease. The main goal of the organization was to promote awareness; that women get screened for the disease as well as for men to make sure their women get protected.

I was asked to co-host with a good friend of mine, who also helped in organizing the event. Women from all over the city, joined the walk for awareness, as well the different medical organizations spearheading the lantern walk. They called Scarlet May - a month long activities promoting cervical cancer awareness and free pap smears for women who want to get checked.

Anyone who wants to volunteer can give their time to the organizations as they give talks to different sites all over Cebu spreading awareness in schools, in baranggays and other areas where both men and women can benefit from the information. Please visit www.shematters.com.ph
