Body Love + Role Model

Not my photo grabbed from google
I get the feeling that a lot will not agree with me on this but some will truly understand. This is coming from a place truly personal. Growing up it was difficult to find a female role model who showed me that it was alright to accept my body as it is and the changes it was going through. My sister left for the UK just right about the time I became conscious about the "issue" and probably my mom didn't really know how to approach me on that subject as my body weight was never an issue outside my immediate family.

So, looking back it was a challenge, one day you want to starve yourself then the next you just can't be bothered to do anything.

Now, I have nieces and D, the 4-year old is starting to get so conscious about her body because she is hearing a lot of people saying stuff about her weight. She is 4 years old! Last night, she told me  she doesn't want to be fat because someone told her "Fat people are stupid."

Seriously?!

I know it's impossible to protect my nieces or my future kids of ignorance but I am gonna try my damn best to show them what true body love and acceptance is. Their core values in seeing the beauty in people not for their size should be given a fighting chance against the haters!

Body Love is not only possible when you are in the "ideal zone" of people's beauty standards.
Body Love doesn't and shouldn't only happen when you're a size 0 or when you have bigger boobs, small waist and a thick ass.
Body Love isn't dependent on other people's views about beauty.
Body Love is a radical kind of love for yourself and for your body - it is a testament.
Body Love shouldn't have a time frame on when it should happen because loving your body should start NOW!

Now if people will tell me I'll be promoting unhealthiness by saying "fat is beautiful", I am not. I will not be promoting unhealthy lifestyles, but I would say every BODY is beautiful and my niece is a beautiful girl.

I am  here saying that if your body is too fat or too thin and that you are just not quite right to some people, it doesn't matter. Be proud of yourself and accept yourself because that is the only time you can make better and healthier choices for you. And, if this weather is too damn hot for you, wear shorts and a sleeveless top, it is no one's business!
