I initially used L'Oreal Studio Secret's Anti-shine and Mattifying Face Primer as well as their Anti-dull skin primer from the same line. Then moved on to using Cargo's Blu-Ray HD Mattifying face primer, a gift from my sister after her Dubai trip. I've loved these products although there are certain parts that I did not fancy as well. I will definitely blog about Cargo when the one I ordered online gets delivered. But, for now I will talk about the primers that I got which are also available here in Cebu because when I finished my Cargo tube, I was like a headless chicken going on around to find an alternative which brought me to L'Oreal Paris Base Magique.
L'Oreal Paris Base Magique
Honestly, I was absolutely hesitant to get this for a number of reasons. First of all, I am not a big fan of the pot because I find it difficult to get the product out and some would get under your nails which makes it not too hygienic. But, then again this primer is cream based thus it is packaged the way it is and which is also the second reason why I didn't wanna get it. I have always used gel-like primers although different in consistencies, Cargo being more fluid than L'Oreal Studio Secrets, I was unsure if cream-based primers were something I could get used to.
So here's what I found out while using this product; it's thick and fairly good for someone with dry skin. Normally with primers you get a mattifying effect, this one acted like a cream-based moisturizer minus the heavy and sweaty feel like Nivea (oops). It is true to its smoothening effect while it makes my skin look dewy and healthy. I suppose this isn't too ideal for people with oily skin. For my makeup though, it is a good base but it does not really give much longevity to my makeup.
Got it for Php 900+ but definitely worth it.
ELF's Mineral Infused Face Primer
I maybe a junkie but I'm also a cheap~o! Cosmetics are not a cheap thing to buy especially the ones that have real good quality and have an established name. This is just one reason why ELF is good and I want to talk about their primer. Apart from the fact that it comes in a pump and is gel-based, it does some good lovin' in keeping my makeup in good shape much longer than the previous one. Although it's very soft when I apply it and evens out lines, it doesn't give the dewy and moist feel like the cream-based primer. But then again, I'm not using the primer to moisturize as I have a moisturizer for that.
Unlike the cream based primer, you don't need a lot to get everything on your face, because it is light and not thick - a few pumps would do and you're covered.
Another plus is it's cheaper than L'Oreal's --- I got it for Php 300+
With the two primers I think I'd buy more of the ELF primer just based on the longevity it gives my makeup because in terms of smoothing ones skin I think both can really do a good job.
